CNHS Speech will provide you with extremely valuable life-skills and for that reason we strongly believe in this activity. Yes, this activity is competitive but on this team we do not see winning as the goal. We see winning as the result of a lot of hard work and learning. We are a team that accepts nothing less than a strong desire to learn and improve from all who participate. In the end, this team will push you to reach your full potential.

Debate.
CNHS Debate is part of the National Speech and Debate Association. Debate strives to teach students to think critically, to speak eloquently, research effectively, to understand both sides of an issue, and to broaden students' knowledge on a wide range of important issues. Our team competes in Public Forum Debate, Lincoln-Douglass Debate, and Student Congress. Our team includes 9th to 12th grade students. Qualified students may also compete in several post-season tournaments for a chance to qualify to both the MSHSL, NCFL Grand National Tournament, Tournament of Champions, and The NSDA National Tournaments.

Thespian Troupe 7789.
As part of the International Thespian Society, Chanhassen Troupe 7789 is an honors organization that offers students who are passionate about theater an opportunity to spend time with like-minded peers from across the state, country, and world.
Besides activities throughout the year for fun and fundraising, the troupe attends the annual State Conference every January where students have two full days of workshops led by professionals from every discipline of the performing arts.
Students can also participate in the Thespys (individual events competitions), competing not only for scholarships, but the opportunity to represent Minnesota at the International Festival in June. The ITF is a week-long theatre extravaganza that is non-stop drama, as well as non-stop fun!
In past years, Chan students have achieved Superior ratings in both the Thespys and the One Act Play Showcase.
